JOHANNA BARRETT, TURRAREE, GLIN, By George Langan

I have a marriage on March 5th, 1889 at Glin church of a farmer’s daughter Johanna Barrett, aged 33 years, daughter of Patrick Barrett 1811-1897 & Margaret Barrett, Turraree to Thomas Ruddle, farmer’s son, aged 30 years, son of Andrew Ruddle, Turraree, the witnesses being – Denis Mulcair & Mary Enright.  It is of the belief that Johanna Barrett was a niece to Thomas Barrett 1819-1894 as in blog on Barrett’s of Templeathea. So, that being the case, it’s quite probable that Johanna’s father Patrick Barrett, was the Patrick in Dysart, who may have moved to Turraree at some stage or other, maybe to work with his brother Thomas. Patrick Barrett died a widower on March 11th, 1897 at Turraree, aged 87 years, Margaret Ruddle, Turraree present at his death. Margaret Ruddle was Margaret Enright who was married to David Ruddle, Turraree. Margaret died on May 4th, 1899 at Turraree aged 41 years, her husband David Ruddle present at her death.
