Thomas4 Feury was born in 1843 in Lakyle North, Co. Clare Ireland. He died at Glenagragra, Co. Limerick circa 1927. He married Honora Kelly, daughter of Michael Kelly, on 28 Feb 1865 in Catholic Chapel of Killofin, Labasheeda, County Clare Ireland. She was born in 1843 in Co. Clare Ireland. She died after 1901 in Glenagragra, Co. Limerick Ireland. Thomas, who went by the nickname of ‘Ryan’ was known for being a bit of a prankster and one of his most famous practical jokes was to make up parcels and leave them on the public road for some passer-by (more than likely a cyclist as there were very few automobiles back then) to pick them up. I’ll leave it to your imagination as regards the contents of the said parcels.

Thomas Feuryand Catherine Scanlon had the following children:
i. JOHN6 (JACK) FEURY (son of Thomas Feury and Catherine Kate Scanlon) was born in 1905 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick Ireland. He died on 22 Sep 1990 in Glenagragra, Glin County Limerick. Jack inherited the home place and married Mary O’Connor, Turraree circa 1940. She was born in 1913 at Turraree Upper, Glin Co. Limerick. She died on 26 Nov 1992 in Glenagragra, Glin County Limerick. Mary was the daughter of Patrick O’Connor, Turraree and Johanna Sheahan, Knockdown. Patrick O’Connor was the son of Tom O’Connor. Patrick was known by the nickname of ‘Paddy Holy Man’. Mary O’Connor had three brothers and one sister – Jack & Tom O’Connor whom remained single and lived next to Danny Faley’s, Turraree. Patrick (Paitin) who married Maureen Nash and Ellen (Nell) who married Matt Tierney, Templeathea. Matt Tierney’s mother was my grand-aunt. (George Langan)

John (Jack) Feury and Mary O’Connor had the following family of 7 -:
(i) Tom7 Feury joined the Christian Brothers, later left and emigrated to England.
(ii) Mary Feury emigrated to England and married there and had a family. Mary died on December 22nd, 2020 at Hoddesdon, Heffordshire, England.

(iii) Jackie Feury R.I.P. Aug 31st, 2020, emigrated to England where he married Margaret Enright, daughter of Jack Enright, Glenbawn, Ballyhahill. They were later to return and are now residing in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. Jackie’s son Richard Feury was fatally injured at Garryduff, Barna, Newcastle West on Sunday Sept 12th 2010 on way home from Listowel races. (three people lost their lives in this accident)

(vi) Female Feury married Male Moloney and resides in Moyvane, Co. Kerry.
(vii) Mickey Feury, R.I.P., Jan 19th, 2002, my school pal and dear friend who was a class behind me in Ballyguiltenane National school, joined me at the Tech’ in Abbeyfeale in the summer of 1966. We cycled to the village of Athea from where we got McDonald’s school bus to bring us on the remainder of our journey. Mickey graduated with an apprenticeship to Rockwell College, Co. Tipperary, where he qualified as a chef. He later relinquished the chef business and took up farming instead in the family dairy farm that was bequeathed to him by his late father. Sadly, he received fatal injuries whilst crossing the ‘Mail’ road at Lyons’s funeral home, Derra, on January 19th 2002.
On January 26th 2002 I dedicated the following to my good friend -:
Tribute To Mickey Feury.
He’ll be mourned in Glenagragra in Moyvane and in Knockdown
He’ll be mourned in Newcastle West and in far off London town.
For my good friend Mickey Feury has sadly passed away
Now he sleeps down in Kilfergus beneath the cold dark clay.
Mickey has departed and has left us full of sorrow
The circumstances they were tragic but in this world there’s no tomorrow.
His passing will be remembered forever and a day
Now he sleeps down in Kilfergus beneath the cold dark clay.
Memories never ceasing I can vividly relate
To Ballyguiltenane school together from nineteen and fifty eight.
To Abbeyfeale thereafter got the bus from sweet Athea
Now he sleeps down in Kilfergus beneath the cold dark clay.
Christmas holidays, what excitement as we hunted for the wren
With our good friend Tommy Windle we didn’t need ‘Moloney’s van’.
Mickey, our honest cashier ne’er a penny went astray
Now he sleeps down in Kilfergus beneath the cold dark clay.
On Sunday’s after worship games of football we’d begin
Often cycled to the village took the long road down to Glin.
He played the game so simple a towering figure in his day
Now he sleeps down in Kilfergus beneath the cold dark clay.
Our teenage years were passing and we wanted something more
Mickey entered Rockwell and I sought Templemore.
We graduated with distinction our professions took us away
Now the ‘chef’ sleeps in Kilfergus beneath the cold dark clay.
Yes ! they took him to Kilfergus down by the hills and sea
Down where the birds are singing, where soft winds whistle free.
They dug for him a lonely grave and there he sleeps today
My good friend Mickey Feury, beneath the cold dark clay.
Mickey Feury 1985.

ii. MARY6 FEURY(daughter of Thomas5 Feury and Catherine Kate Scanlon) was born on 10 Mar 1906 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick Ireland. She died before 1911 in Dromisk, Glin County Limerick Ireland.
iii. MICHAEL6 FEURY(son of Thomas Feury and Catherine (Kate) Scanlon) b. 1908 inherited the Connor farm in Dromreask, a family that he worked for over the years. There was Luke, Frank, Thade and BiddyConnor in the family. Their mother was a Shine woman. According to Griffiths Valuation 1851, Luke Connor had the said farm, which consisted of houses, land and bog that he had rented from the Landlord, Goggin. It is the belief that the Connor’s originally came from Templeathea as Luke Connors in 1852 was a sub-tenant of Redmond Roche of Templeathea West even though he had acquired the Dromreask farm by then. Naturally enough he wanted a farm of his own so he may have held on to the sub-tenancy for a while after getting hold of the said Dromreask farm. You will note that the O’ was dropped from the surname O’Connor. Back in the 17th century many Irish families but not everyone did this in an effort to make it easier to seek employment as O’ indicated being of ‘Gaelic’ descent and thus under English law passed in 1623 one was forbidden to use their Irish name. Mick Feury married Catherine (Kit) O’Connor, from Duncaha, Tarmons, Co. Kerry, a sister to Dan O’Connor, Glenagragra and they had one son in family –
Tom7 Feury.(known as small Tom Feury to distinguish himself from his uncle who was also called Tom Feury who resided with them, See Tom hereunder)
Indeed the same Mick Feury inherited his father’s stratagems and introduced them to us youngsters back in the 1960’s. Many is the Sunday Mick would join us on the ‘Kerryline’ roadway as we neatly parcelled up some horse manure and left it on the said roadway for some poor unfortunate passerby. The real thrill derived from this prank was the fact that we were all hiding inside the ditch or up on some tree watching developments as they unfolded. One particular person that comes to mind that fell for our wind-up was none other than John Sheehan of Knockdown who might have been cycling home from last Mass in Athea on the day. I think Tom Geoghegan, Turraree also fell victim to our schemes. Tom, who had a motorcar at the time, would be visiting his sister Bridget who was married to Amsie Griffin at Blaine. Indeed, I also remember a few strangers stopping to pick up their ‘presents’. Mick Feury was the first person to show me the auroraborealis (the northern lights) in the night sky. I didn’t know what the man was talking about as he pointed to the magnificent lights and the most amusing thing about it to me was the way Mick pronounced auroraborealis. Mick was a funny man. I left home in 1972 and didn’t see Mick for about five years and I suppose in the meantime I had put on a bit of weight. Anyway I happened to meet Mick on the roadway one evening and after he eyeing me up and down for a few seconds, looked me in the eye and addressed me as follows -: ‘By J but do you know what, you’re fallin’ into flesh, ha’. Mick Feury died May 21st 1991 age 83yrs. His wife Kit died March 7th 1993.
Tom7 Feury ‘Small Tom’ 1985.
iv. BRIGID6 FEURY(daughter of Thomas Feury and Catherine Kate Scanlon) was born on 12 May 1909 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick. She died on 23 Dec 1996. She married DENIS MULVIHILL. He was born in 1900 in County Limerick and they lived in Shanagolden. Birdie was a priest’s housekeeper for many years. I remember well an incident involving Bridie during the big freeze of 1963. There was one particular day during that inclement period; Birdie had the occasion to visit her sister Nonie in Glenagragra. Having been dropped off by hackney at the roadside gate she proceeded to make her way up the snow-covered road to the house. The snowdrifts on the road were so high and deep that Birdielost her bearings so to speak, resulting in her veering off the said road and as a result being almost buried up to her waist in the massive drift. I can still hear her cries for help ringing out o’er the valley and can see my grandfather Paddy Langan going to her rescue. Birdie lived out her final years with her sister Nonie in Glenagragra. Ipaid them a visit in 1992 and took a photograph of the two lovable sisters, which later appeared in the B.R.J. 1992/93 p140.
v. NORA6 FEURY(daughter of Thomas Feury and Catherine Scanlon) was born on 10 Nov 1910 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick Ireland. She married her near neighbour Dan O’Connor Glenagragra in 1944. Nonie wasn’t a person for going out very much apart from going to Mass on Sunday’s and Holy days etc. I remember one particular very fine summer’s day in the late 1960’s when we were footing the turf on our Co. Council bank up in Higgins’ mountain. The bank of turf that I refer to was located by the old mud road. Dan O’Connor had a bank of turf next to us and low and behold who arrived on the scene only the said Nonie. It was my first time ever seeing her in the bog. My mother happened to be helping us on the day in question and I remember her saying to Nonie how good it was to see her out in the bog enjoying the fresh air. Says Nonie – ‘Yerra Delia ‘isn’t pure Ballybunion’. Nonie died on September 12th, 2002.
Left Nora (Nonie) Feury O’Connor and her sister Brigid (Birdie) Mulvihill.
vi. MARY6 FEURY (daughter of Thomas Feury and Catherine Kate Scanlon) was born in 1911 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick. She died in Brisbane Queensland Australia. She married William Henry Tromans in 1942 in New South Wales, Australia.
vii. THOMAS6 (TOM) FEURY (son of Thomas Feury and Catherine Kate Scanlon) was born in 1912 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick. He died on 05 Dec 1974 in Limerick Regional Hospital, County Limerick. Tomwho remained single in life went to live with his brother Mick in Dromreask. Tom was a very placid and timid person who went about his daily chores not bothering anyone. When televisions came our way back in the 1960’s, Feury’s was one of the first houses locally to have installed such a luxuary. It was there that my brother Eddie and I would go at night to watch our favourite programme, be it ‘The Virginian’, ‘The Long Hot Summer’ or some Western fiction movie. Come the month of August when the ‘All Ireland’s’ commenced half the townland would descend upon that hospitable family. I remember Tom sitting quietly in the corner of the hearth relaxing after his day’s work on the family farm.
viii. ELIZABETH6 (LIZZY) FEURY(daughter of Thomas Feury and Catherine Kate Scanlon) was born in 1913 in Glenagragra Co. Limerick. She died in 1914 in Glenagragra, Co. Limerick.

(3)Patrick (Patsy) Mullane aged 44 in census, son of Denis and Johanna Scanlon Mullane remained single in life. Patsy lived at Dromreask with his mother Johanna and his sister who was also called Johanna. Following Johanna’s marriage to Jer Mulvihill (below) a major rumpus (for want of a better word) occurred resulting in Patrick (Patsy) having to vacate the place hence his name not appearing in the 1911 census. Patsy was there up to 1905 as he was listed as occupier at the birth of Denis Mulvihill. I’m being told he finished up living back in Dirreen with his 1st cousin, Mary Mullane Scanlon. In fact Brian Moriarty, (Brian being the great grandson of Michael Griffin and Mary Mullane) you are correct where you say you found a Patrick Mullane boarding with Timothy Scanlon at Dirreen, Athea. Timothy Scanlon was married to Mary Mullane, Patrick (Patsy’s) Mullane 1st cousin as per census hereunder. Timothy Scanlon married into the Mullane home.

Patrick married Mary Ellen Gallagher, daughter of Edmond Gallagher and Mary McMahon, in 1902. She was born on Sep 11th, 1873 in Queenstown, County Cork. She died on Mar 13th, 1943 in Glin, Co. Limerick.
Notes for Patrick Mulvihill: His godparents were William Dillane and Mary Feury. In the 1901 Census of Ireland, Patrick was a tailor in Labasheeda, Co. Clare, however by 1911 he was married to Mary Ellen Gallagher and was living in Glin, Co. Limerick and also working as a tailor. They had nine children (all boys), three died at birth or very young. Many of these are buried near Labasheeda, most likely at Kilkerin, where there is a small church, already in ruins by 1837. This church has a burial-ground only used for the interment of children. By 1911 six children were alive, but two of the boys, who had been born between 1902 and 1911 had already died. At this time, Edward Gallagher, Mary’s father was living with the family in Glin.
Notes for Mary Ellen Gallagher: In the 1911 Census of Ireland ( Co. Limerick), Mary’s age is given as 36 years, this does not agree with the age in the Kilfergus Burial Register, although the tombstone inscription agrees with the census. Mary’s place of birth in the 1911 census is given as Co. Cork, while her father’s place of birth is given as Co. Limerick. She had siblings born in Glin and one sibling born in England.

Limerick.
Notes for Edmond Gallagher: My thanks to whoever compiled this information on the Gallagher family. He joined the British Army on 9 March 1858 in County Limerick. His enlistment papers state that he was 19 years of age, born near Glin, Parish of Glin. He served 20 years and 169 days. He was discharged at his own request on 30 August 1878. Because he had served at least 18 years in total, he was entitled to a military pension. He intends to live in Glin, according to his discharge papers. He served 5 years and one month in Malta, as well as 2 years and four months in the East Indies. In 1873 he was on Spike Island, Cork Harbour, when his daughter Mary Ellen was born. He rose to the rank of Sergeant.

James (Jim) Granville, son of Nicholas as aged 30 in census hereunder married Katie Shanahan. Katie Shanahan was an aunt to John Shanahan, Glin who was married to Hannie ‘The Weaver’ Mulvihill. Hannie was a sister to Paddy ‘The Weaver’ Mulvihill, Tobbertoureen, Moyvane who was married to Mollie Shanahan, Glenagragra. Paddy ‘The Weaver’ married into the Shanahan place. Molly Shanahan’s mother was an aunt to Paddy Faley, Glasha & Glenbawn. The Mulvihill farm was bounding the Lyons farm in Dromreask. Donie Lyons was telling me that the Mulvihill children came across the mountain and along by his place on their way to Ballyguiltenane school. James Granville died at a relatively young age and his widow Katie re-married to a Paddy Granville, Listowel, no relation to James, so I was told by Buddy Feury. It was said that Katie brought him home from Listowel in an ass and cart. James Granville’s house was situated opposite to where a local road known as ‘the new road’ has its intersection with the Glin/Athea road and is still known today as ‘Granville’s Cross’.

Mick ‘The Bram’ Enright, on his return from the U.S. bought the original house in Clounleharde where Martin Dillane & his wife Ellen lived (which was one of the brick houses) from a family of the O’Callaghan’s who emigrated to the U.S.A. Martin, later built a new bungalow close to the schoolhouse.
Mick ‘The Bram’ Enright was born at Clounleharde on Sept 27th, 1867, son of John Enright & Margaret Ahern. On Jan 20th, 1889 at Ballyhahill church, Mick who was aged 22 years, married Catherine Walsh, Clounleharde, daughter of labourer JohnWalsh, the witnesses being – Thomas & Bridget Enright. Following their marriage, Mick and his wife went to live in Knockdown in the cottage by the side of the road where Ned O’Shaughnessy lived in my time. Mick ‘The Bram’ had a twin sister, Johanna Enright who died from the fever on July 28th, 1876, aged 8 years.
Ned Enright, who was no relation bought the John Enright farm which was approximately 30 acres in size. Ned’s son Jack Ned Enright who farmed there, subsequently sold the farm to Tom Enright from Templeathea, Athea. Following the sale, Jack Ned Enright moved to Ballaugh, Abbeyfeale. Tom Enright’s daughter Nora (Nonie) Enright married Richard (Dick) Wallace, Tullyleague, Glin. Dick, who married in there, built a new house in 1987 at the opposite side of the road. (I knew Dick Wallace well)
Mick ‘The Bram’ had a family of 6 as follows, and as outlined by James Harrison hereunder, all whom emigrated to the U.S. They were – Paddy, Jack, Mick, Catherine, Bridget and Ellen Enright.
Mick’s wife Catherine was born on Sept 13th. 1867 and died at Clounleharde from heart disease on Sept 18th, 1904, aged 37 years. Mick worked as an engine driver at the branch of the Cork and Kerry creamery in Crough, Turraree, Glin. After the creamery was burned down Mick sold his house to Con O’Shaughnessy and along with his youngest daughter Ellen, followed the rest of the family on the emigrant ship to the U.S. As alluded to above, on his return from the U.S. Mick bought the O’Callaghan home in Clounleharde. Ellen had returned with him and subsequently married Martin Dillane from Kinard, Glin.
More on Mick ‘The Bram’ as follows, given to me by James Harrison, great great grandnephew of Mick.
”Very handy George, as Dad is the great nephew of Mick and this part of the family were a bit of a mystery (due to the return to Ireland after the US). Mick also had several other siblings, all born at Clounleharde: Honora b.1872 who probably emigrated to Wiltshire, d.1952, Michael (another one) b.1875 d.1875, James b.1876 d.1878, Margaret b.1880 d.1882 and Bridget b.23/12/1884 who I can find no death or marriage for so may have emigrated west. Childhood mortality was pretty hard back then. His other sister, Mary b.1871 d.1952, married Jeremiah Hartnett son of Daniel Hartnett and Ellen Connors of Knocknasna (Abbeyfeale) at Ballyhahill on 30/11/1901. The lived in Limerick on the 1901 Census and in Glenbaun on the 1911 Census, but emigrated to the US too and ended up around New Jersey.”
”Dad descends from Patrick Joseph Enright (Mick’s younger brother) baptised 25/03/1869 civil 10/04/1869 at Clounleharde, who emigrated in about 1892 to Wiltshire, England, met a Devon girl called Emily Louise Matthews (b.28/07/1872 West Alvington, Devon; d.16/04/1958 Salisbury Wiltshire, daughter of Jacob and Susannah Matthews) when buying his tobacco at her mother’s shop in Swindon and married her in Swindon in 1896. He had 12 children (all of whom lived to adulthood) and worked as a rural police constable in Wiltshire until 1920, then ran a garage in Whaddon, Wiltshire with his sons until he retired to Quidhampton, Wiltshire and died in 1952. His descendants still live in Bristol (UK) and Australia.”
”Mick’s remaining brother, John (b.1876) also emigrated to Wiltshire and was a Wiltshire Constable too until his disciplinary record caused him to resign (several bottles of whisky are mentioned at various points, but who begrudges a little drink at Christmas? The Chief Constable of Wiltshire, apparently). He had returned to Abbeyfeale and on 23/04/1906 married a Bridget O’Connell of Knocksentry (Annacotty, daughter of Michael and Hanorah possibly Richardson). After the Police he ran a shop in Abbeyfeale on the 1911 Census, but went west before 1914. His wife joined him, but sadly John died 15/01/1916 in Manhatten. His wife, back to Connell, did found a dynasty in Brooklyn and New Jersey, however.”
”Mick’s other kids (who appear not to have returned from the US) ended up settling around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.”
”Mick has a tree on FamilySearch if anyone wants to investigate https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/MZ5Z-XPW (free to register and access). That tree has attached most of the sources and links to transcripts of most of the documents etc and has some of his descendants, more descendants of relations, and a few ancestors.”
”I’ve only managed to find his father (John ‘Michael’ Enright, son of Michael Enright and possibly either Ellen Gayson on 28/10/1835 or Mary Walsh on 10/06/1837 if his baptism was in Shanagolden, and who died 09/03/1918 of old age at Clounleharde) and his mother (Margaret Ahern of Rooskagh, Ardagh, daughter of James Ahern, farmer, Rooska/Rooskagh and probably Margaret Lane, but Margaret’s census birthdate is before the Ardagh RC baptisms started; she died at Clounleharde on 25/04/1919 also of old age). Margaret, incidentally, must have been pregnant at her wedding as she had another child called James Wolfe mere months after her marriage (on 03/02/1866, at Ardagh) with an Edward Wolfe, farmer of Ashgrove (Newcastle), (b.15/05/1866 at Clounleharde), although he appears to have died in infancy (either on the day of birth or at age two, there are two civil records which don’t have much info on them).”
”I’ve struggled to positively identify which Michael Enright (senior) was John’s father, or which of the two options in Shanagolden (which then seems to have covered the current RC parish of Loughill/Ballyhahill) is his baptism (there is a lesser chance it was also Catherine Dalton, but that was in 1848 and doesn’t fit so well with the census dates).”
”I’ve also been trying to identify where exactly the family’s farming happened in Clounleharde, so if anyone has any local knowledge, I’ll monitor replies to this post. It’d be nice to know if any family took over the farmland (which was probably rented). It doesn’t look like they were immediate relations of the ‘Ned’ Enrights who later farmed there, and I can find no link to the John/Patrick/Bridget/Hanora Enright siblings who farm there on the 1901/1911 censuses either. Are these the Johnny Paddy Enrights referred to?”
”John Enright and Margaret nee Ahern are on the 1901 and 1911 censuses as retired farmers at Knockaclugga (a townland just south of Clounleharde) but seem to have been back in Clounleharde at their deaths in 1918 and 1919.”
”I’d also love to know what ‘The Bram’ signifies (and promise not to be offended!)”
MARTIN DILLANE was born on 27 Nov 1895 in Kinard, Glin Co. Limerick. Martin, like his father before him, was a tailor and lived in Clounleharde, Ballyhahill. (Next to the school) I knew him well. I drew home the turf for him from Spa Hill bog back in 1970. On April 29th, 1930 at Ballyhahill church, Martin married Ellen (Nell) Enright, daughter of Mick ‘The Bram’ Enright, the witnesses being – John Dillane & Bridget Quinn. Ellen died in 1988 aged 90 years. Martin and Ellen had the following family of 5 –
i.Martin (Mar) Dillane who along with his 4-year-old son Martin, were fatally injured in a road traffic accident in 1984 in Co. Longford. It is of the belief that a drunk driver ran into them.
ii.John Joe Dillane N.T. emigrated to Zimbabwe where he settled down in Harare and married a native from there. They had a daughter Tracey Dillane who married Chippie Roberts who was a rugby player with Zimbabwe. Chippie & Tracey visited Clounleharde when the Zimbabwe rugby team toured Ireland over 30 years ago, I I’m almost sure it was 1991. John returned to Ireland as is now (Dec 30th, 2022) living in Portlaoise.
iii.Kathleen Dillane married Jim Donegan and they live in Dublin.
iv. Michael Dillane who is nearing the 92-age bracket (Dec 30th, 2022), is married and living in Listowel, Co. Kerry.
v.Paul Dillane emigrated to the U.S. and went to his eternal reward a good number of years ago.
Mick ‘The Bram’ Enright, on his return from the U.S. bought the original house where Martin & his wife lived (which was one of the brick houses) from a family of the O’Callaghan’s who emigrated to the U.S.A.
Mick had a family of 6 as follows, all whom emigrated to the U.S. They were – Paddy, Jack, Mick, Catherine, Bridget and Ellen Enright.
Mick’s wife Catherine was born on Sept 13th. 1867 and died at Clounleharde from heart disease on Sept 18th, 1904, aged 37 years. Mick worked as an engine driver at the branch of the Cork and Kerry creamery in Crough, Turraree. Ellen had returned with him and subsequently married Martin Dillane. (George Langan & Paddy Faley)
John Enright and Elizabeth Leahy were married on Feb 8th, 1877 at Newtownsandes church, Elizabeth being the daughter of James Leahy, Carruaragh, the witnesses being – John Costello andMargaret Enright. John Enright’s father was James Enright who in 1852 was the holder of 58 acres under the landlord Samuel A. Dixon. James died on Jan 29th, 1880 at Clounleharde, aged 69 years, his son John Enright present at his death James (Jim) Enright, son of John Enright and Elizabeth Leahy married Margaret Hudson, Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry on Nov 16th, 1912 at Listowel church, the witnesses being – Pat Leahy, Carruaragh and Hannie Hudson. James died on Oct 23rd, 1945 at Glenbawn, his son Jim Enright present at his death. Margaret Enright died on 26 Aug 1962. She was buried in Athea Cemetery, Co. Limerick. Elizabeth Leahy came frome Carrauragh, which I believe is back beyond the new graveyard at Gale bridge on the Listowel road. In 1840 all the occupiers of Glenbawn were tenants-at-will, ie they could be all evicted without notice. The soil was described for the most part as heathery bog with some coarse pasture with a little arable producing oats and potatoes. About half the townland was fenced and reclaimed. Jim farmed in Glenbawn in Ballyhahill, Co. Limerick. His father John Enright must have died young as we see in the 1901 census his widow Elizabeth (Liz) is head of the family. In fact, John Enright died at Clounleharde on Dec 7th, 1891, aged 36 years, his daughter Maggie Enright present at his death.
From Helen’s Family Trees & George Langan
Hannie Hudson Kilbaha, daughter of Richard Hudson, had a sister Margaret (Maggie) Hudson who was born on 13 Feb 1884 in Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She was christened on 16 Feb 1884 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died on 26 Aug 1962. She was buried in Athea Cemetery, Co. Limerick.
Sponsors at Maggie’s baptism were John Ahern and Ellen [surname not recorded].
Maggie is not listed in the 1901 census return for her father’s household. There is, however, a Margaret Hudson, aged 13, listed as a visitor in the household of a Thomas Sheehan of Kilbaha South (Maggie’s older sister, Mary Anne, was married to a Thomas Sheehan in Kilbaha).
